State calls for no bail for PE mosque murder accused

The state has called for bail to be denied to a Nigerian national accused of killing a man in a Port Elizabeth mosque.
Twenty-nine-year-old NMMU student, Mohammad Aliko, has been charged with the murder of wheel-chair bound worshipper, Muhammed Laher, who was beaten and stabbed to death in the South End mosque earlier this month.
In final arguments in Aliko's bail applcation on Tuesday, the state said that he may flee if granted bail adding that he had already made threats to other congregants at the mosque.
Defence attorney Ryno Scholtz, said that his client was not a flight risk and that his Nigerian passport is in the possession of the state.
Magistrate Gavin juicy will rule on the Aliko's bail application on Friday.
