Tekkie Town in Baywestmall PE is currently closed following an incident over the weekend when a staff member (18) was humiliated at their store.
The girl allegedly had her hands tied behind her back and mouth taped before her female supervisor told her to stand in the front window with a sign saying "I don't listen to my supervisor and I am in the naughty corner".
PA Councillor Marlon Daniels took to social media on Monday after being alerted to the incident. He said he has since spoken to the victim and her family, who is from the Northern Areas.
According to Daniels he spoke to the store manager on Monday and was shocked to learn that no steps have been taken against the supervisor. Daniels threatened to mobilise the entire Northern Areas to shut down the store if action is not taken. The alleged incident happened on Friday.
Tekkie Town took to their Facebook page on Monday morning and condemned the incident, which they claimed happened on Sunday. They called it unacceptable and humiliating. They have launched a full investigation and suspended the supervisor.
They have also offered to counsel the victim and will have a preliminary report ready by Tuesday.
