Police in Gqeberha have arrested a 30-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old man whose body was discovered at St George's Park.
A spokesperson for Police Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the body of Sibulele Tshunungwa, who allegedly tried to steal cables in Havelock Street, was found with stab wounds on Monday.
She says according to information, Tshunungwa and his friend were spotted by a group of men attempting to steal cables from a business in Central.
Colonel Naidu says the men chased the suspects on foot and with a car and when they reached the Park, two men got out of the vehicle to chase them on foot.
She says one suspect managed to get away while Tshunungwa ended up dead.
It is understood that the men were trying to make a citizen's arrest which ended up in a murder.
The suspect is expected to appear in the local Magistrates Court on Friday.
Colonel Naidu says police confiscated a black Toyota Yaris while the search for a second suspect is still underway.
