The St Francis Bay Ratepayers Association says it has written to Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, for help in repairing roads in the village.
The association's deputy-chairperson, Nigel Aitken, says many roads are impassable as a result of recent heavy rain.
"The problem effectively is that the infrastructure that is in place in St Francis Bay is totally inadequate, there is very little storm water drainage, because of this the roads get flooded and obviously this creates potholes. The deterioration of the roads have reached a stage now where there are areas that are beyond normal repair and the slightest amount of rain now creates major flooding" Aitken said.
He says that unless something's done urgently, property prices will suffer.
They've already appealed to the Kouga Municipality for assistance.
Meanwhile, the Kouga Municipality says it’s aware of the state of roads in St Francis.
In a brief statement the municipality said additional staff had been allocated to speed up repairs to the roads.
Kouga says newly appointed Director for Infrastructure, Planning and Development, Victor Felton, has already met stakeholder groups to address the need for a long-term solution.
