A group of inmates at St Albans went on a stabbing spree on Tuesday morning on the same day Correctional services minister Sibusiso Ndebele visited the prison on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth
Eastern Cape Correctional Services spokesperson Zama Feni says six prisoners were involved in an argument and three of them were stabbed.
He say all three inmates sustained multiple stab wounds to the head and back and have been admitted to hospital.
The three other inmates are currently being detained in single cells and Feni says the situation is under control.
