Gantana said the man was brought back to the St Albans premises and bags of drugs and 17 cellphones were found in his vehicle.
"The type of drugs that were found it's about 2.2 Kg of dagga, 586 Mandrax tablets and 5 packets of tik. The drugs were wrapped in a plastic bag hidden in the boot of the car and the under the driver's and front passenger's seat," she said.
Gantana said the suspect had been an officer since 1992 then went on to commend the officials who were able to arrest their colleague without hesitation.
"We would like to applaud the commitment of the departmental officials who were not hesitant to apprehend one of their own. This speaks highly of their integrity and their commitment to service excellence," she added.
