The Eastern Cape Education department is asking candidates implicated in group copying in the 2014 National Senior Certificate to register for the 2015 Supplementary examinations.
This follows Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga approval of a special concession for them in their respective schools or districts.
Eastern Cape Education Department spokesperson, Mali Mtima, says the approval for them to register is granted on the basis that these candidates were assisted by the Chief Invigilator, Invigilator, or Subject teachers and therefore did not act on their own - or of their own accord.
He said the Department was comfortable that it was not sending out the wrong message as those candidates who had acted on their own would NOT qualify for the special concession.
