Two suspects are expected to appear in the Lady Frere Magistrates Court this week following their arrest for robbery, kidnapping and impersonating a police officer.
Police Spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni says it is alleged that two men posed as police officers and entered the victim's shop in Cacadu (formerly Lady Frere) before robbing him of an undisclosed amount of money.
She says the suspects also stole firearms and kidnapped the shop owner before fleeing the scene.
Captain Mdleleni says the Tactical Response Team, organised crime detectives and the Flying Squad members were activated to search for the suspects.
The team arrested both suspects and recovered the firearms in the East London area.
Captain Mdleleni says the victim is a foreigner who owns a spaza shop in town and his alleged kidnappers dumped him at an unknown location where he eventually reported to matter to police.
