Grahamstown police says they're concerned at a recent spate of vehicle thefts in the city, targeting older model cars.
In the latest incident overnight a policeman's 1999 Toyota Corolla was stolen from the police barracks in Grahamstown.
Police spokesperson, captain Mali Govender says members of Grahamstown's highway patrol stopped a suspected stolen Toyota Corolla on the N2 on Wednesday night and arrested three men in their twenties.
She says the owner of the vehicle was not even aware that his vehicle had been stolen.
Govender says during a follow up investigation an older model VW Jetta stolen in Port Elizabeth was recovered in Joza township.
She says police are increasing patrols in hot spot areas but she's also appealed to the to assist by securing their vehicles.
