Spar robbed in Summerstrand

A gang of eight men robbed the Spar in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth on Monday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a bakkie belonging to one of the staff.

Police Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a manageress had arrived at work to open up at six am when the gang struck.

They forced her inside the store and ordered her to lie on the floor along with the bakery staff who were already at work.

Van Rensburg says the robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and fled in the women's bakkie.

Police are searching for the suspects.
