One of Port Elizabeth's most sought after gangsters was arrested in Bethelsdorp on Saturday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Col. Pricilla Naidu says police members patrolling in Kleinskool received information about the possible whereabouts of the suspect.
She says the information was immediately followed up, and as the suspect saw the police, he attempted to escape on foot.
He was however, apprehended.
Naidu says while all of this was going on, members from the Mount Road Cluster Visible Gang Intervention Unit and the Operational Command Centre were busy searching the suspect's house in Bethelsdorp.
She says a shotgun and 8 rounds of ammunition were confiscated.
Naidu says the 28-year old suspect was allegedly involved in several gang related shootings in PE's Northern areas.
He is being detained on charges of murder, attempted murder and vehicle hijacking.
