The son of the Abathembu King, Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, has appeared in court for allegedly assaulting his father's advisor.

The National Prosecuting Authority in the Eastern Cape said 27-year-old Azenathi appeared in court in Mthatha on Monday.

Spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, said he was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm as well as pointing of a firearm.

He said the charges stemmed from an incident in Mthatha last week. However, Azenathi Dalindyebo was not arrested but warned to appear in court.

Tyali said he is out on warning and the matter was postponed to the 8th August for further investigation.

In March Azenathi, who is currently the acting king, laid a charge of assault by threats and malicious damage to property against his father.

King Dalindyebo was subsequently arrested in Mthatha and appeared in court.

The King was jailed in 2015 to an effective 12-years after being found guilty of arson, assault, kidnapping and culpable homicide.

In December Dalindyebo was released from prison after President Cyril Ramaphosa granted a special remission of sentence.
