Officials at Port Elizabeth's Dora Nginza Hospital are appealing for the mother of an abandoned premature baby to come forward.
Principal Medical Social Worker, Pamela Rubushe says they urgently need the ID book of the child's mother Anelisa Tesana, so that they can register the baby.
She says Tesana delivered the baby at the Motherwell Health Centre in December but was then transferred to Dora Nginza's Maternity section.
Rubushe says Tesana probably planned to abandon the child as she had provided the hospital with a false ID number and address before absconding a day before Christmas.
She says anyone who may know Tesana's whereabouts or that of her partner Mike Frolick, is urged to contact Dora Nginza Hospital.
"We are appealing to anyone who knows Mike Frolick to contact us urgently, with his girlfriend Anelisa Tesana, in connection with their premature baby who was dumped at the Hospital. We need Tesana urgently to get her ID book so that we can register the baby" she said
