The Eastern Cape Department of Health is appealing to the public in tracing the relatives of an elderly man who died at the Livingstone Hospital last year.
The 75-year-old David Spencer was admitted to Provincial Hospital in February last year after he was assaulted during a robbery.
A Social worker for the Department of Health Tiny Toyiya believes that the deceased was a homeless man who lived at a shelter in Walmer.
She said the robbers had his Identity book, SASSA card and R900.
Soon after being admitted to the hospital, Spencer's health deteriorated and he was transferred to Livingstone as a neuro-patient.
He succumbed to his illness in November.
Toyiya said at his time in the hospital, Spencer did not receive any calls or visitors.
Anyone who might have information on the deceased is urged to contact the hospital.
Spencer's body has been at a State mortuary since November.
