A Police dive-unit is expected to continue its search on Wednesday for a teenager who went missing in the Gwaing River Mouth in George on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the NSRI Craig Lambinon says their Wilderness crew was activated on Tuesday afternoon following eye-witness reports of a drowning in progress.
He says the police, a government EMS squad, as well as George Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene.
Lambinon says a sea and shoreline search commenced for the local male teenager, believed to be 15 or 16-years-old.
He was last seen appearing to be in difficulty in the surf, whilst swimming with his friends, before disappearing in the water.
He says despite an extensive search there was no sign of the teenager.
