Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini met the community of Nelson Mandela Bay this afternoon as part of the Department's ongoing service delivery improvement initiative, Project Mikondzo.
16 days of Activism Against Women and Children Abuse kicked off earlier this week with Wednesday's events centred around gender based violence at Kuyga Sports Field in the informal settlement.
The project seeks to address social challenges in the country's poorest 13 000 with the main aim being to improve responsiveness to the needs of the people.
During the past few weeks the department has conducted community dialogues in ten wards in Nelson Mandela Bay to get community perspective on various challenges.
Dialogues addressed included youth unemployment, alcohol and drug abuse and teen pregnancy.
