So called 'Dog whisperer' found not guilty of animal cruelty

A so-called dog whisperer has been found not guilty on two charges of animal cruelty in the Mossel Bay Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old Phillip Page was charged following two separate incidents near Hartenbos in 2013.

The State testified that Page dragged an English Bulldog called Spike for up to 40 meters during training, the animal died later the same evening.

The accused pleaded not guilty and told the court that he did take Spike for a walk but denied dragging her.

On the second charge, the State said that he strangled and punched an American Pitbull in the face while taking him for a walk.

Page, however, said that he defended himself after the dog attacked him.

The court found that the State did not provide enough evidence and found him not guilty on both counts.
