A 28-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident in Port Elizabeth was released on Tuesday, without appearing in court.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the case was not put on the court roll, however, investigations will continue, and once finalised the case will be taken back to the prosecutor for a decision.
She says the man was arrested in the early hours of this morning after allegedly jumping a red robot in Kempston Road before hitting a light motor vehicle on Monday night.
Two women were killed and one was injured and taken to the hospital.
It has since been confirmed that the victims were all members of Atlas Security in Port Elizabeth.
Marketing Manager for Atlas Wayne Hart says the women were on their way to work the night shift at their control room in the city.
The deceased have been identified as the 19-year-old Micayla Victor and the 21-year-old Celine De Ridder.
Hart expressed his heartfelt condolences to friends and family of the deceased.
