A Grade 11 learner from Point High School in Mossel Bay will be subjected to a disciplinary hearing after a "bankie" of dagga was found in his possession on Wednesday.
Headmaster Adolph Gouws says they recently had to deal with two incidents at school where dagga was found in the possession of learners and he wanted to send out a strong message that drugs will not be tolerated at his school.
He says he approached the Mossel Bay police and the local neighbourhood watch who authorised sniffer dog Sticks to pay a visit to the school.
Although Sticks stole the hearts of many learners, he was there on business and sniffed out the dagga from the 18-year-old pupil and two vapes from other learners.
Gouws says his parents were informed and a disciplinary hearing will commence soon.
Just over a thousand learners attend Point High School.
Sticks is no stranger in Mossel Bay circles, in December last year, he assisted police in a drug bust at the Shell garage in Voorbaai where he sniffed out drugs with an estimated street value of more than R5 million.
Earlier this week the MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi expressed his concern after 11 pupils from Randfontein High School were hospitalised after consuming dagga biscuits.
The so-called space cakes were sold to the pupils by a matric pupil who now faces suspension.
