Sleeping student robbed in PE digs

Port Elizabeth police have sounded a warning to students living in off-campus accommodation to be vigilant after a student was robbed at knife-point in his digs on Tuesday morning.

Police said that the intruders were able to gain entry to the Admiralty Road flatlet through a closed but apparently unlocked door.

The 22-year-old student, who was woken up and threatened by two men, was robbed of items valued at R11 000.

"Students must be extra cautious as they are easy targets for criminals. Before going to bed make sure that all the doors and windows are locked," said police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

No arrests have yet been made.
