The fraud trial of Nonthutuzelo Sizani, wife of ANC Chief Whip Stone Sizani, is continuing in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court.
Sizani is accused of defrauding the Eastern Cape Education Department of R1.2 million.
This relates to the appointment of so-called ghost teachers between 2009 and 2010, while allegedly pocketing their salaries.
During Tuesday's court proceedings the state called Grade R Practitioner, Brenda Mjongile to the stand.
The state alleges that Mjongile was unemployed between November 2009 and the end of March 2010, yet she received a monthly salary from the Department of Education.
The state further alleges that an amount of R21 000 which had been deposited into her bank account during November 2009 had been paid over to Sizani on her instruction.
The trial continues.
