The Hawks in George have arrested a 42-year-old man in Komani for dealing in drugs.
Spokesperson, Zinzi Hani says this was the sixth arrest in an intelligence-driven operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime teams from George and Gqeberha, as well as the George K9 unit and Motherwell Crime Intelligence targeting a suspected organised crime group that was allegedly sourcing cannabis from rural villages in the Eastern Cape.
They would then distribute the drugs at outlets in the Southern Cape.
The suspect's five co-accused appeared in the George Magistrates' court on 4 February where they were all released on bail.
Hani says the 42-year old suspect will make his first court appearance on Monday, when the case is expected to be postponed and he will appear again alongside his co-accused on 28 March.
