A sixth suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder and robbery of two elderly women at the Stella Londt Retirement Home in Sunridge Park, Port Elizabeth.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says detectives arrested the 31-year-old suspect in Walmer on Tuesday afternoon.
He will appear in the PE Magistrate's Court on Thursday on two charges of murder, two charges of house robbery, two charges of kidnapping as well as a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery.
The 91-year-old Agnes Elaine Burns and 87-year-old Rosemary Langton died after being bound and gagged by several suspects who broke into their separate rooms at the retirement home in the early hours of the morning on Thursday the 10th of October this year.
Their rooms were ransacked and valuable items including Kruger Rands, elite watches and jewellery were stolen.
On the 18th of October, five suspects were arrested, including 34-year-old Nombebisi Slangveld - a female carer at Stella Londt Retirement Home.
Two of the accused have already been given suspended sentences for being in possession of property stolen from the deceased women.
The other three accused, including Slangveld, remain in custody and will be back in court on the 20th of January 2020.
