Police in Walmer, Port Elizabeth would like to advise the public to be extra cautious when going to the Arlington Tip dumping site to discard their trash.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says they have noticed a considerable increase in robberies at the tip, especially between Friday's and Monday's.
She says the most recent robbery occurred on Sunday when a 37-year-old man was confronted and robbed of all his personal belongings.
The complainant says he was approached by three men who offered to assist him but turned them down as he did not have any money to give them.
Naidu says one man threatened him at knifepoint and took his phone, watch, sunglasses and car keys.
She says the victim tussled with the suspects and managed to get back his car keys, however, when he drove off one of the men was inside his vehicle but eventually jumped out.
Police are appealing to people to leave all their valuables at home and to avoid going to the tip alone.
