A Gqeberha serial rapist has been sentenced to six life terms in the city's high court on Wednesday.
Forty-four-year-old Thembenkosi Ngcolomba was arrested in 2018 following his two-year crime spree in which he was found guilty of raping at least nine women.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says he used Facebook to lure the women and apparently told them he was a famous local soccer star.
After befriending them, he would then arrange to meet and rape his victims.
Naidu says he produced a screwdriver or a knife, raped the women in an open field, and in six of the cases, robbed them of their cellphones and cash.
