Six killed in one PE police cluster

Six people were killed in a 48-hour period in one Port Elizabeth policing cluster with one man behind bars so far.

Police said that the bodies began piling up from the early hours of Saturday morning when

28-year-old Xola Sokomani was shot in the neck after an argument in a tavern in Ndaba street, New Brighton.

In the one incident, a 32-year-old man was arrested on a charge of murder and attempted murder for stabbing a man and his girlfriend who refused to give him money for booze.

Police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge, said 32-year-old Sinethemba Faaltein was fatally wounded while his 28-year-old girlfriend was seriously wounded in her upper chest.

The suspect is due in court soon.

Beetge said the bodies of four other people, including that of a 22-year-old man, who were killed in separate incidents in Zwide and Kwazakhele, were also found by police.

He also said that police arrested five people and recovered five illegal firearms over the weekend.
