Six people were killed in a head-on collision on the R61 between Cradock and Tarkastad on Friday evening.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a Toyota Avanza with nine occupants traveling from Tarkastad collided with a Toyota LDV.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says six occupants in the Avanza, including the driver, were declared dead at the scene.
He says two men and a woman sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Cradock Provincial Hospital.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
