Six arrested for Madiba Memorial Saga: ANC responds

Hawks spokesperson, captain Paul Ramaloko says six people, including Buffalo City Metro Executive Mayor, Councillor Zukiswa Ncita, have been arrested in connection with the Nelson Mandela Memorial Saga.
They were arrested on Monday.
Ncita is appearing in the East London Magistrate's court on Monday afternoon along with the deputy Mayor Themba Tinta, Speaker - Councillor Luleka Simon-Ndzele, and three other senior officials on charges of procurement fraud, money laundering and corruption involving millions of rands.
Captain Paul Ramaloko says the investigation is on-going.
Meanwhile the ANC responded as follows:
"We note the arrest of the BCM ANC Regional Secretary, Phumlani Mkolo, BCM Mayor, Councilor Zukiswa Ncitha, Deputy Mayor, Themba Thinta, Speaker, Luleka Simon, Sindiswa Gompa and other senior BCM officials by the Hawks in relation to the allegations around the usage of the money set aside for the memorial and funeral services of our late former President, Nelson Mandela.
We call on ANC members to allow this court process to unfold to its full conclusion.
As the ANC, we stand by our initial position that all ANC members who might have information on this matter are urged to cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies investigating this matter and our justice system to get to the bottom of this matter.
We must maintain presumption of innocence until proven otherwise by the court of law, it also apply to these members.
As the ANC, we maintain our clear conscience and commitment to clean to governance and administration.
All ANC deployees are conscious of the importance of ensuring transparency and ensuring clean governance where they are deployed.
Our Provincial Working Committee will reflect on this matter and assess its implications"
