Businesses in Kirkwood re-opened on Friday morning, however shop owners say that they do not have their full compliment of workers.
On Thursday Kirkwood became a ghost town when shops closed their doors as residents from three areas took to the streets in a service delivery protest.
Kirkwood Chamber chairperson Flippie Ehlers, says he has spoken to some community leaders to convey the message that nothing is closed off and people can come to work.
Ehlers says there is a bit of confusion in the town.
"We trying to get in contact with the people to come to work. I have spoken to some of the leaders in the area telling them nothing is closed off and they can come to work and do their shopping as well. There is a bit of confusion at the moment but it's quite, there is no shooting taking place which we are glad for. We are having a meeting as business people to discuss a way forward, especially concerning the funds about a water pipe." says Ehlers.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says the situation in Aqua Park, Bergsig and Moses Mabhida is calm.
Swart says the six people arrested this week in connection with violent protests in September will make their first appearance in court on Friday.
