The number of active Covid-19 cases in the Bitou municipality in Plettenberg Bay along the Garden Route has decreased over the past weeks.
Municipal spokesperson, Andile Namntu says they suspect that their Covid-19 awareness and compliance campaigns might be paying off.
The area was declared a hotspot over the festive season.
Namntu says their multi-disciplinary team conducted weekly Covid-19 awareness and compliance operations in all communities within the Bitou Municipality.
He says the efforts of the team made a massive impact, as the number of new infections dropped significantly over the past two weeks.
Namntu said, however, it would only remain effective if residents remained responsible and comply with protocols and regulations.
