Gqeberha police are investigating a case of murder following a shooting in Helenvale on Wednesday in which a teenager was killed.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, identified the deceased as 18-year-old Renaldo Kiewiets.
She said Gelvandale SAPS members responded to a complaint at the corner of Klein Pienaar Street and Stanford Road, Helenvale, at around 8.30 on Wednesday.
"On arrival, the mother of the deceased informed them that her son was shot and had a gunshot wound to the neck. He was lying at the back of the house," Janse Van Rensburg said.
She said at this stage the motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation is continuing.
Janse Van Rensburg said there were also reports of random shootings, however, no incidents were reported.
She said police are monitoring Helenvale and the search for the killer or killers, is continuing.
