Kwanobuhle police along with Port Elizabeth Anti-Gang Unit members have recovered a stolen bakkie worth at least R60 000 within hours of it being hijacked.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the complainant was hijacked by three men as he was closing his mini-market in Gumede Street at around 9 pm on Tuesday.
The suspects fled in his Nissan NP200 bakkie after forcing him to hand over his cell phone and cash at gunpoint.
The hijackers also fired two shots into the air during the incident.
Colonel Naidu says shortly after midnight on Wednesday, members spotted and chased after the bakkie which drove into the fence of a house in Nomakhwezana Street.
The suspects fled the scene and are still at large.
