Anti-gang unit members in Port Elizabeth have recovered a 9 mm pistol and a revolver after coming under fire at a house in Venus Street in Gelvandale.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says shots were fired at the members from inside the yard while they were attempting to execute a search warrant at around 1 am.
As the members called out to the occupants of the house, shots were fired at them through a hole in the wall.
Public Order Policing, PE K9 Unit and PE Flying Squad members immediately provided backup and the 13 people inside the house, were restrained.
Colonel Naidu says the group consisted of seven men and six women.
A 9mm pistol was found hidden under a mattress and a revolver found hidden in the floor.
The firearms will be sent to ballistics for testing as both their serial numbers had been filed off.
An attempted murder case was opened by police as well as an enquiry about the firearms.
At this stage, no arrests have been made.
