East London's Haven Wellness Centre in Buffalo Flats received a shot in the arm on Wednesday.
Algoa FM has presented the Centre with a cheque for R75 000, which was raised during the Algoa Cares Winter Charity Golf Day in August.
The Haven's financial director, Carol Warmberg, says the money will be put to good use to secure the facility following recent unsavoury incidents.
"We will be looking at improving security as one of our priorities. That means fencing and replacing some of our security equipment and then also some of the items that was stolen. These items we used within our feeding scheme programme. We receive up to about 300 children two or three times a week, so it has really made a tremendous difference in the work that we do" she said.
Algoa FM CSI manager Jennilee Peremore says the radio station, as a strong voice in the region, has to lead by example.
"I think as long as there is a need out there Algoa FM, as a premium media brand, we should continue giving, because it is an important role that we play as a voice for the region" she said
