Port Elizabeth police are searching for 5 armed suspects, after a jewellery store was robbed of around R4-million worth of jewellery in the Walmer Park Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says two armed men initially entered Ritter's Jewellers shortly after it opened for business at 09:30.
He says the two suspects detained the owner and his assistant in an office at gunpoint, while another two men and a woman entered the shop, and looted the place.
Labans says no shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, thieves broke into three shops in the Greenacres shopping centre in Port Elizabeth on Saturday evening.
WO Labans says the unknown number of suspects took cellphones and jewellery from the shops and fled the scene.
The value of the stolen items is not known.
