The Shoprite Group has confirmed that its Shoprite Amalinda store in East London was closed earlier on Tuesday following positive testing for Covid-19.
The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) and Department of Health were informed.
It says the store was closed immediately and a professional decontamination company was brought in to sanitize and deep clean.
The store will be reopened in consultation with the Provincial Department of Health.
Shoprite says an employee screening programme supported by the company’s mobile clinic was immediately been put in place.
Those who had close contact are now self-quarantining for 14 days.
On Monday three retail stores in Port Elizabeth closed their doors after staff members tested positive for Covid19.
The Shoprite Group confirmed that its Checkers store in Newton Park was one of them.
The other stores were Dischem and Pick 'n Pay in the Walmer Park Shopping Centre.
