Swift action by the police in Port Elizabeth has led to the arrest of two suspects, following a shooting incident and hijacking at a bank in Newton Park.
Spokesperson Alwin Labans says a 64-year-old man and his 38-year-old son were on their way to the bank at about 9.45am when they were approached by the suspects, of whom one had a firearm.
A shot was fired and the suspect fled with the man's briefcase, together with two accomplices, in a red Mazda which they hijacked at the bank.
The car was found shortly afterwards in Maureen Circle in Bluewater Bay, and two men were arrested, but a third suspect is still at large.
