Port Elizabeth police are now investigating a case of murder following Sunday morning's gang-related shooting at the beachfront in Humewood.
This after one of the three injured people died in hospital.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 27-year-old Marvin Draghoender sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and arm and died in the late morning.
She says the 16-year-old teenage girl who got shot in the head, after being caught in the crossfire is still in ICU.
A third person who was also injured has been treated and released from a hospital.
An argument broke out between two groups in front of McDonald's at the beachfront shortly after 2 am, which ended up in a physical brawl.
Naidu says it was at this point that one of the men started firing shots.
Police are now investigating a case of murder and two of attempted murder.
She says the gang affiliation of both groups are unknown at this stage and the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is investigating.
