Police in East London are investigating a case of attempted murder after a man fired several shots at security guards on the East London Beachfront.
Captain Stephen Marais says police were summoned to the scene at about 4am on Monday morning.
The security guard says he was shot at by an unknown man who had parked his car at the parking lot in the area.
A woman in the vehicle apparently started screaming, and when the security guard went to investigate, the men drew a firearm and started shooting.
The severely traumatised security guard was not injured.
Captain Marais says the shooter then fled the scene in his vehicle.
Police have several leads and are hopeful of making an arrest soon.
A live round of ammunition and a spent cartridge were found on the scene.
