South African fuel company, Express Petroleum, says it's severed ties with Shell - ahead of a controversial ocean blasting project - off the wild coast next month.
The supplier says it doesn't support the decision by the oil and gas giant to carry out the seismic survey to search for hydrocarbon deposits beneath the seabed.
Environmentalists, who are trying to stop the survey from going ahead, insist it will harm marine life.
But Shell has via a statement on its website, said that it's met all the legal obligations to perform the activity - in line with regulations.
It says it will implement mitigation measures.
A dedicated and independent specialist team will monitor the survey - which will be suspended if any marine animal is found to have entered the 500-metre exclusion zone, around the sound source.
Meanwhile, Express Petroleum says it's begun the process of removing Shell's branding from its outlets and other assets and is sourcing products from other suppliers.
The company runs 35 petrol stations in KZN and Eastern Cape.

Meanwhile, a petition has been started to stop Shell's blasting project with a protest planned in Gqeberha on the 5th of December.
