Thet National Sea Rescue Institute has urged bathers along the St Francis Bay coastline to exercise caution.
This is due to the presence of a White shark, suspected to be in excess of 5 meters in length, patrolling the shore-line for the past few days in full view of curious onlookers, holiday makers and residents.
NSRI station commander Marc May says the local town council are informed and while necessary alerts have been posted, they are taking this opportunity to caution bathers, surfers and paddlers.
He says the NSRI suspect that shark fishing permits have apparently been issued by authorities in that area and this may have led to the increased presence of shark activity along that stretch of coast .
