Greenacres Centre Management has confirmed that a severe storm that hit the Port Elizabeth area at around 5 o'clock on Friday afternoon, has resulted in damage to several areas of the shopping centre's ceiling.
Centre Manager, Brent Star, says a team attended to the affected areas soon after the storm hit, in order to remove any debris and to ensure that the centre was made safe.
Mop-up operations were underway on Friday evening.
Starr says the areas most affected are those situated near the undercover parking area and up towards the food court.
He says the extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and information regarding stores that will not be able to trade, will be provided when available.
