The case against flight sergeant Frederick Gordon who was found guilty of brutally assaulting his wife and holding her captive in their Forest Hill flat has been postponed in the Port Elizabeth magistrates court for a final time for pre-sentencing proceedings.
Gordon who sacked his legal aid lawyer kept on requesting the court to postpone the matter to seek private counsel.
State Prosecutor Andre Kirshner said it was clear that Gordon was delaying proceedings.
He even went on to recommend several lawyers but they had decllined to represent Gordon.
Magistrate Chris Kruger postponed the matter to the 8th November for a final chance for Gordon to address the court in mitigation of sentence.
Gordon was found guilty in July of the brutal assault and rape of his wife Avril.
However, he was acquitted on a charge of attempted murder.
