Nineteen patients and 10 staff members have tested positive for coronavirus at the Life Esidimeni Frail Care Centre in Port Elizabeth.
The Eastern Cape Department of Health confirmed the outbreak of the novel virus at the facility which is situated in Lorraine.
Spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo says the department and all relevant stakeholders are hard at work to ensure that the situation is put under control, further recommending that the centre be deep cleaned.
Kupelo could not confirm whether those infected have been hospitalized or if they are in self-isolation.
