The quick response of the police has led to the arrest of seven suspects following a business robbery in Kariega.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says at about 2 pm the suspects, armed with a knife and a gun, entered the clothing shop where they threatened the manager before forcing her to pack cellphones and money into bags.
They fled in a silver Toyota Avanza and the details of the car were circulated to police.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says they soon spotted the car, and a high-speed chase ensued.
She says the vehicle was cornered in Nzotoyi Street where the arrests were made.
Police found a firearm, gas pistol and bag full of suspected stolen goods.
At the moment, the suspects will be charged for possession of suspected stolen goods and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Janse van Rensburg says investigations are underway to positively link them to the business robbery.
They are expected to appear in court soon.
