Seven perish in Garden Route crash

Western Cape police said seven people were killed in a head-on collision on the N2 just outside Heidelberg early on Monday morning.

According to the police, the accident happened at around 4 am in dense fog about 10 kilometres outside Heidelberg in the direction of Riversdale.

Two passengers from each vehicle, a Haval and a Mazda, survived the accident.

The cause of the crash is not yet known and forms part of a police investigation.

Heidelberg police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
