Seven people have been killed in an horrific accident on the N2 near Kareedouw.
Provincial Traffic Deputy Director Charles Bramwell reports that a silver Chev Sonic and a white VW Polo collided head on at about 12.30 this morning.
Two men and three women in the Chev and two men in the Polo died on the scene of the crash.
Bramwell says the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions - the Chev was travelling towards Cape Town and the Polo towards Port Elizabeth when the collision happened.
There were 7 occupants in the Chev and 3 in the Polo.
Both drivers were among those killed.
Bramwell says the 3 seriously injured passengers were transported to hospital and that Kareedouw Police have opened a culpable homicide docket.
The N2 has been reopened to traffic.
