Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 61-year-old man on charges of murder and attempted murder after a shooting at a tavern in Korsten.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said in a statement on Sunday that the 28-year-old victim, Vuyowethu Mahili and the suspect, who is the tavern owner got into an argument.
“The owner requested the deceased to leave the tavern when an altercation ensued and shots was fired. The deceased died on the scene,” Naidu said.
“A 14-year-old boy the son of the tavern owner was also injured during the shooting and sustain a wound to his neck. He was taken to hospital for treatment,” she said.
Naidu said that the 61-year-old man was arrested on charges of murder and will appear in at New Law Courts Magistrate court on Monday.
