Seven Fountains Police open inquest docket

Seven Fountains Police have opened an inquest following the drowning of a man near Grahamstown.

Police spokesperson, Warrant officer Luvuyo Mjekula, says 63-year old Phumelele Fundani was allegedly fishing with a companion along the Assegai River on Spring Grove Farm on Tuesday.

Mjekula says Fundani reportedly slipped and disappeared under the water.

He says his body was discovered after an underwater search by police divers from Port Elizabeth.
