The Eastern Cape Department of Transport says it has learnt with shock and sadness of the passing of its Chief Financial Officer, Denzel Skweyiya in a car accident on Friday evening.
Department spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie says Skweyiya died in an accident on the N2 between King William’s Town and Mdantsane, when his Toyota sedan collided with a BMW.
He died at the scene, while the driver of the BMW escaped with minor injuries.
Rantjie says Skweyiya joined the Transport Department 20 years ago as its first Financial Director and later became Chief Financial Officer.
At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving CFO in the Eastern Cape Provincial Government.
